IMPORTANCE OF CORRECT MIXING RATIO
Epoxy resin and hardener molecules have active sites designed to react with each other in a precise stoichiometric balance. When you follow the correct mixing ratio, every resin molecule finds a corresponding hardener molecule, building a tightly cross-linked molecular network that delivers full hardness, clarity, and chemical resistance. Deviate from the ratio, and unreacted molecules remain trapped in the cured material, resulting in a softer surface, reduced heat resistance, and potential tackiness that never fully resolves.
A common misconception is that adding extra hardener will make the epoxy cure faster or harder. In reality, excess hardener molecules have no resin partners to bond with, weakening the final product and often leaving a greasy or flexible surface. Never add exra hardener to speed up the reaction.
